Sugar and Spice Baby Shower

Sugar and Spice and everything nice, that's what little girls are made of.  Fitting then that we hosted a Sugar and Spice Baby Shower for a soon to be Mommy to a dear baby girl.

A sugar and spice baby shower theme lends itself to a beautiful color palette of pinks and browns for the decor and I took full advantage!

I assembled a small, but effective, double panel hanging banner with the wording "Oh Baby" using the patterns, fonts and colors used in the invitation to ensure consistency for the event.

I found a beautiful tea trolley in the week before the baby shower and had my hubby working day and night to break it apart, sand it down (it was in varnished dark wood before), prime and paint in a matte white and then assemble it again in time for the party.  I attached some pink and brown balloons, set a diaper cake I had made on the top and placed the 'thank you' favor chocolates at the entrance to the baby shower.
I am totally in love with my new piece!!

Sugar and Spice Baby Shower Welcome

The Sugar and Spice Baby Shower theme was just perfect for a dessert table filled with sweet and slightly spicy treats.  Baked desserts included single servings of slightly spiced (cinnamon, cloves and nutmeg) pumpkin tart with a chocolate digestive biscuit base.  This was a thrown together recipe that is somewhere between a pumpkin pie and fridge cheesecake!  I finished them off with a thin layer of thick cream, a sprinkle of cinnamon and a wafer.  And what better represents sugar and spice than cinnamon sugar pancakes!  I added a splash of lemon juice too for taste.

Other sweet table elements included pink and white marshmallows, coated peanuts, gummy double hearts, pink rock candy, chocolate coated raisins, an assortment of chocolate chip and ginger biscuits and water bottles labelled in the theme colors.

The focal point of the sweet table had to be these adorable cupcakes made by the very talented ladies at Cherry on Top Cakes and Cupcakes.  I requested a selection of chocolate and vanilla cupcakes to be topped off with pink and brown baby elements - and WOW, did they deliver!  Not only did they look utterly gorgeous but they taste even better.  They were just what I needed to finish the table beautifully.

And the final product ... a Sugar and Spice sweet table in glorious pinks and delicious browns!

I have added the Sugar and Spice Baby Shower Invitation to my Etsy store and will update shortly with further decor elements too.

What are some of your favorite baby shower themes?  I would love to hear.

  1. This is simply amazing. I have booked a nice event space San Francisco for my sister’s bridal shower and I am sure these colors are going to be perfect for the day. I can add black with it too. I cannot take my eye off this post. I have to share this with my friends and cousins.
